A beginner’s board is a board that shows you legal moves when you pick up a piece with a light underneath the board. It catches you when you try to cheat with a red light, and even supports special moves like spellcasting and promotion.
Using only an Arduino Mega2560 to control a handcrafted 8*8 green/red matrix (3 rows) of LEDs, and a multiplexer controller (designed for this project), we created a chessboard that can be played in a novice player Interact with them as you play, delivering a rich experience that PC games simply can’t.
